The Western Energy Hub will store a variety of commodity products, for varied end uses, and employ diverse storage and distribution technologies. For example, we have joined with functional experts to successfully develop each area of hub operation. We have joined forces with Mitsubishi Power Americas to build the capacity for storage and distribution of utility-scale hydrogen for use as clean fuel. Magnum continues to explore opportunities with other world-class strategic partners.
A Team Approach to Developing the Western Energy Hub
Joint Venture with Mitsubishi Power Americas
In 2019, Magnum entered into a joint venture with Mitsubishi Power Americas—ACES Delta (see ACES-Delta.com)—to develop the world’s largest green hydrogen production and storage facility. This project will store utility-scale hydrogen produced from renewable energy in the on-site salt dome caverns that can be drawn upon to supply clean energy when wind and solar resources cannot meet market demand.

Joint Venture with Sawtooth Caverns
Magnum’s joint venture with Sawtooth Caverns, established in 2018, combines Sawtooth’s natural gas liquids storage facility into the Western Energy Hub.
